The Proper Form for Wood Preparation

A new fence will only need one coat of stain. Older wood will require two coats or more.

The pressure-treated wood requires 2 to 6 months to dry out before any application. Older fences are scraped, and any exposed wood gets primed. Depending on the condition, fences that are being redone will need 1 to 2 coats.

Recoat Wood Fences Every 2 to 5 Years
